8up bd Cricket Betting — Place bets on every BPL, IPL and T20 World Cup match
Cricket is Bangladesh's most loved sport. At 8up bd you can bet on all formats from T20 to Test — with a range of markets from match winner to over/under.
Cricket's three formats and major tournaments
The first step in cricket betting is understanding the formats. The type of markets available varies slightly across each format.
T20 is the shortest and fastest format — just 20 overs per innings. Matches usually finish within three hours. BPL (Bangladesh Premier League), IPL and the T20 World Cup are played in this format. BPL is especially popular with Bangladesh cricket fans — top local cricketers play alongside international stars.
ODI, or one-day cricket, gives each team 50 overs. The ICC World Cup is held in this format. ODI has always been important for the Tigers — both batting and bowling tactics influence the result.
Test is the longest format — it can last up to five days. A draw is a valid result here, so the betting markets differ from T20 or ODI. Pitch and weather play a much bigger role in Test cricket.
Football and other sports betting
Alongside cricket, 8up bd also offers betting on football and other sports. Football is growing in popularity in Bangladesh — betting on Premier League, La Liga or World Cup matches has become a favourite for many.
The main difference between cricket and football betting is the type of outcomes. Football has three possible results — Team A wins, Team B wins, or a draw. T20 and ODI cricket have no draw, so markets are generally limited to two possibilities. Test cricket, however, does include a draw as part of the betting market.
Football has special markets like goalscorer, half-time result or corner count. Cricket more commonly features markets like top run-scorer, wicket-taker or total runs in a specific over. Naturally, betting is more enjoyable in the sport you know better.
Betting is purely for entertainment. Read our responsible gaming page to learn more.
Cricket vs Football — at a glance
- T20/ODI has only two outcomes
- A draw is also a betting option in football
- Cricket has a separate top batsman market
- Goalscorer markets are popular in football
- Live betting is available for both sports
Popular cricket betting markets
8up bd offers several markets for cricket matches. Below are the seven most common markets with a brief explanation of each.
Match Winner
Which of the two teams will win — this is the most straightforward market. Example: in Team A vs Team B, pick Team B. If Team B wins, you win the bet; if not, you lose.
Simple marketToss Winner
Bet on which team will win the toss. Completely independent of the match result, some people choose this market just for fun.
Independent marketTop Batsman
Who will score the most runs for their team? Example: pick which batter will score the highest for Team A.
Player marketTotal Runs Over/Under
Whether the total runs in a match or innings will be above or below a set number. Example: if you pick over 160 runs in an innings, you win if the total exceeds 160.
Runs marketTop Wicket-Taker
Bet on which bowler will take the most wickets. This market covers both pace and spin bowlers.
Bowler marketMulti Bet
Combining multiple selections on one slip multiplies the total odds. Example: bets on three separate matches at odds of 1.60, 1.80 and 1.90 — total odds 1.60 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 5.47. All selections must be correct to win.
Multiple marketsPowerplay Runs
Bet on how many runs will be scored during the powerplay overs (the first 6 overs in T20). This market depends on the outcome of a specific phase of play.
Phase marketHow to read odds
Odds in betting are written in three different formats — decimal, fractional and American. 8up bd generally uses the decimal format, but knowing all three makes it easy to compare anywhere.
Example 1 — the same odds in three formats: Team A's odds of winning are 2.50 in decimal. This equals 3/2 in fractional and +150 in American. Place a ৳500 stake and if Team A wins, the total return is ৳1,250 (that is, ৳750 profit plus the original ৳500 stake back). If Team A loses, the ৳500 is lost.
Example 2 — the favourite's odds: Team B's odds of winning are 1.80 in decimal, 4/5 in fractional and -125 in American. A negative American odds figure means that amount must be staked to earn ৳100 profit. A ৳500 stake returns ৳900 if Team B wins (৳400 profit + ৳500 original stake).
Decimal odds are easy to read — the higher the number, the greater the return. They never go below 1.00.
These figures are illustrative examples only — not live odds or a guarantee of winnings.
Live betting — markets change during the match
Live or in-play betting is the ability to place bets while a match is in progress. In cricket, odds update automatically with every wicket, every over and every powerplay.
For example: if Team A makes a strong start by scoring 50 runs in 6 overs, their odds of winning shorten (meaning they become the favourite). If two wickets fall in the very next over, the odds shift again. This constant change is what makes live betting dynamic.
In Test cricket, the pitch breaks down as the days go by, so spinners become more effective by the second or third day — this is also reflected in the live betting markets.
Live betting lets you make quick decisions, but it is equally important to keep a clear head. Set a budget before you play and stay aware of responsible betting habits.
Practical tips for cricket betting
Betting is a form of entertainment. The tips below will help you stay informed as you play.
Understand the format before betting
T20 and Test have different rules — find out which markets are available in each format before you start.
Set your budget first
Decide how much you will stake before each session. Never go beyond that limit.
Focus on one market
For beginners, starting with the match winner market is straightforward. It is better not to get confused by too many markets at once.
Consider pitch and weather
In Test matches, the nature of the pitch plays a big part in the result. In rain-affected ODIs during the monsoon, the Duckworth-Lewis rule applies.
Be careful with multi bets
Combining multiple selections increases the potential return, but if any one of them is wrong, the entire stake is lost.
No rush after a loss
Resist the urge to quickly place a large bet to recover losses. Entertainment is the main purpose.
